We are a studio that works with miniature, scenery, and game board commissions directly with clients to bring your vision to life. Through the process of artistic expression, we work to elevate your experience in Tabletop Gaming. We strive to give our clients the utmost customer service while providing a commission to be proud of.
Oscar Lars Painting Studio was born out of love for the Tabletop Gaming community and of painting miniature models from a variety of tabletop games. We let passion run our studio. It is the motor behind every project, bringing that something extra with every project.

Oscar brings to your tabletop six years of university-level arts training along with over two decades of experience in painting tabletop miniatures. While many painters can give you a decent standard of work, Oscar uses his expertise in color theory, composition, and concept design to bring your own ideas to life, or to take that existing scheme to the next level.

OSCAR LARS
Oscar began his adventure as a commission painter in early 2008. Since then, he has perfected his craft - not only painting models, but creating army concepts that are striking and affordable. From the use of his degree in fine art, Oscar brings in skills from portrait, landscape, and still life painting to take army painting to the next level.
After earning his Fine Art degree, Oscar founded Oscar Lars Painting Studio: a full time business working directly with clients for a personal experience. Whether a client is looking for single model, or an entire army commission, he is always excited for each project and treats every client with the same value and respect.
Oscar is an award-winning artist, taking home several “Best Painted’ prizes from large gaming tournaments including Adepticon, Nova Open, and Warhammer World Official. In addition, Oscar is a Golden Demon winner.
Though happy to take on your commission, Oscar is passionate about improving your own hobby by offering instruction in multiple ways. For a personal experience, you can learn at Oscar’s painting desk through one-on-one individualized classes. Oscar also teaches group classes at NOVA Open in Northern Virginia each year. These classes are a 100% donation to Doctors without Borders and a great way for the studio to do good while also giving the community something of value. Lastly, Oscar collaborates with master film editor Maarten Kramer to offer YouTube tutorials. This project is funded by Patreon donors, merchandise sales, and countless hours of collaboration between Oscar and Maarten. All content is free of charge and can be accessed anywhere at anytime on the YouTube channel.
Mr Coconut
Mr Coconut is an apprentice at the shop, learning not only how support the painting of models, but also how to make a living as a shop dog. After spending over a year practicing not to bark or sever heads, Mr Coconut is now napping and playing under Oscar’s supervision.
As a young and hungry dog, Mr Coconut has progressed incredibly well in the short amount of time he has spent at the studio. Which goes to show what a talent he is and what potential he has for the future.
